ABOUT FAROS CAPITAL
Faros Capital is a growing, owner-managed accounting practice based in London, providing expert accounting and tax services to small and medium-sized businesses and self-employed individuals. We work across multiple sectors, with particular depth in construction, IT, transport, and UK-Ukraine trade.
We are expanding our team and looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join us and take ownership of a broad portfolio of client work.
THE ROLE
You will be a key member of our accounting team, working directly with clients across our core sectors. This is a hands-on role with significant responsibility from day one — you will manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of companies, from bookkeeping through to final statutory submissions.
You will work closely with the firm's leadership and have direct client contact, making communication and accuracy equally important as technical skill.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare annual statutory company accounts for a portfolio of SME clients
- Manage end-to-end VAT preparation, reconciliation, and HMRC submissions
- Produce clear, insightful management reports to help clients understand their financial position
- Prepare and file CT600 Corporation Tax returns accurately and on time
- Support clients through HMRC correspondence and basic compliance matters
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• AAT Level 4 qualified, or currently part-qualified ACCA (active study preferred)
• At least 2 years of UK-based accounting experience, ideally in a practice environment
• Strong working knowledge of Xero and Xero HQ — you should be comfortable onboarding clients and navigating the platform confidently
• Solid understanding of UK VAT rules, corporation tax, and statutory reporting requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
• Good communication skills — able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance clients
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive, market-rate salary — discussed and agreed based on your experience
- Hybrid working model: a balance of in-office days at our London office and remote flexibility
- Direct exposure to a varied client portfolio across construction, IT, transport, and trade
- A close-knit, supportive team where you work directly with experienced principals — not lost in a large firm
- Real opportunity to grow your skills and take on more advisory responsibilities over time
