Software Engineer

Job Description: The Software Engineer will be part of a team developing solutions in IOT to improve operational performance. You will work alongside a global team of software engineers, BAs and others, working together to enhance and maintain bp?s digital IOT solutions for local and global markets. Key Accountabilities: - Working with users and business analysts to understand requirements - You will undertake research with a range of end users to better understand their needs, and their relationship with the various factors that influence their environment. - Gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers to deliver intuitive and human-centered solutions - Articulate pain points, opportunities and uncover insights that can be mapped back to business value - Illustrate your ideas using storyboards, process flows, service blueprints, customer journey maps and sitemaps Essentials Education: - Computer Science or other technical (e.g. Physics, Engineering) degree or equivalent - commercial experience - Junior level experience expected in - Digital Design ? good understanding of digital design - information architecture - wire framing / prototyping - working knowledge of the possibilities afforded by recent developments in front end web technology - Passion and thirst for all things service design - Demonstrable enthusiasm for continued learning and gaining of experience - Practical, hands-on experience of all stages of service design projects including, but not limited to: - problem-framing - desk and ethnographic research - conducting interviews and extracting findings - playing a key role in workshops ? including facilitation - discovery and mapping - ideation - prototyping Desirable Criteria: - Comfortable with ambiguity; willingness to navigate to the crux of a problem - Able to help plan and facilitate workshops - Comfortable in presenting to clients and colleagues - Agile and open mindset ? agile experience is especially valued - Willingness and ability to work hands-on and produce artefacts in sketched and digital form - Design related degree useful but not mandatory - Additional service design qualifications or training also very advantageous
