Software Test Engineer

Job Description: Reporting to the Tech lead, we are seeking a strong Trainee Software Test Engineer who can work with the development teams in building and executing comprehensive suites of automation test plans and test cases, maintaining and adding to the existing automation framework, continued evaluation of test cases for inclusion in regression, automation for newly integrated features, and use of toolsets to augment QE and Development testing. The successful candidate will work closely with distributed Scrum teams including business teams and engineering teams to help us deliver quality software in a reliable and predictable manner using various tools and methods. You will take ownership of test design, automation and execution on various project deliverables. Key Responsibilities: - Learn and gain in-depth knowledge of various software and testing methodologies of the organization. - Get involved in analyzing requirements (user stories) during the refinement sessions. Identify if any gaps and clarifications in requirements and discuss them with Lead, product Owner and follow-up to address them. - Learn, implement, monitor, and ensure all processes and procedures for testing the product / project are established as per standards defined by the organization. - Create Contribute to detailed automated test creations to ensure optimal test coverage of software product features; Engage in manual and exploratory tests of the product feature deliveries by the team members. - Understand product specification and verify if product behaves as expected across releases in multiple environments. Engage in manual and exploratory tests of the product feature deliveries along with the team members. - Contribute to Reviewing the test deliverables produced by team members and feedback the review findings to team members. - Build strong knowledge in developing scripts for both UI and API tests. - Analyze a specific problem reported, identify the root cause and generate the required automation post discussion with team members. - Collaborate with Delivery team to help developing test strategies and execute test plans/cases with a strong emphasis on using code to solve technical challenges and shorten the test cycle through automation. - Estimate Automation test efforts with your Scrum team, analyze and communicate test results and participate in day to day activities. - Work with Developers and Business Analysts to design and implement test and validation strategies (Acceptance Criteria). - Create, execute and troubleshoot automated test scenarios across our systems. - Exposure of Continuous Integration (CI) practices, preferably using Jenkins or TFS. - Spend a fair effort in Understanding and learning of TDD & BDD practices, software design principles, patterns, algorithms, data structures and multi-threading concepts would be advantageous, as would knowledge on TDD and/or BDD. - Gain knowledge and experience of Agile environment and be able to illustrate the effectiveness of testing against deliveries. Requirements: Skills/Proficiencies required: - Minimum of 0 to 6 months of exposure or training on to software testing and automated test techniques with a strong focus on quality throughout the software development cycle. - Excellent Fair understanding of different test methodologies and techniques including automated and functional/manual testing.
